Along the river Schie there is a square named Plein Delftzicht. It consists mostly of grass, which separates the residential buildings from the road. Next to the grass there is a round,  paved area of which a part is elevated.

If you walk to the edge of the water, you have a clear view of the old city centre. This view was once painted by famous Dutch painter Johannes Vermeer in the 17th century. Comparing his painting to today’s view there are not a lot of similarities left, but the Nieuwe Kerk (The New Church) is still very much recognisable today.
