The Yeast and Spirit factory in Delft was a Dutch company founded by Jacques van Marken in 1869. He studied in Delft and was asked to erect a new yeast company. Around that time Dutch Yeast was of low quality, which was a problem as it was needed for baking bread and brewing. Delft was a good location due to the far reaching sales market, infrastructure and the amount of available workers. After two study trips abroad the factory was opened and started producing. In 1950 the company existed for 80 years and received the title of ‘Royal’.

Van Marken was a special director and took exceptional care of his employees. He realised a ‘village’ next to his factories: Agentapark in Delft.
